In November, I had a minor car accident. I had just left the hair salon after a kick-ass session with my hair colorist/therapist, where we talked about our kids, our husbands, aliens, and everything in between.
I was heading home and was creeping into a turning lane when a car that was already in the lane and had been stopped suddenly hit the gas and hit the back door on the driver’s side of my car.
The person who hit me got out of his car, yelled at ME, and then apologized and said that he was distracted, upset over the election, wasn’t paying attention, and didn’t see me. The problem is the sheriff cited ME for an improper lane change because, in his words, “The man you hit was in the lane already and had control of the lane; therefore, you are at fault.”
Except that when you hit someone’s car, BECAUSE YOU’RE NOT PAYING ATTENTION, YOU CLEARLY DON’T HAVE CONTROL OF THE LANE OR YOUR VEHICLE OR ANYTHING ELSE BECAUSE YOU’RE A DRIVING SPACE CADET, and I'm sorry for yelling that, but this still irks me.
I’m also kind of pissed the Florida DMV sold my personal information to private companies and marketing firms. How do I know they did? Because I was and still am being bombarded with robocalls and direct mail offers from various driving schools, along with other driving-related paraphilia bullsh*t in the days immediately following the accident.
Anyway, I paid the fine and cut back on Christmas shopping because, my God, it was expensive (I’m being a little dramatic there, haha). To avoid the points on my license, I was given the option to complete four hours of online driving school with multiple tests and quizzes by January 24th, which is what I did this morning instead of writing a more interesting blog post, and It is what I’ll be doing for the next few days. Fun times.
