Grandchildren Are Unbelievably Loveable But Equally Exhausting
Our 2-1/2-year-old mostly-potty-trained-but-sometimes-not granddaughter is visiting us today and tomorrow while her parents take a break and do whatever exhausted, working full-time parents do when they don't have their kid for a few days.
Oh, and my mind is blown because OMG when did that baby turn TWO, lose the diapers (kind of), and proudly start wearing Bluey and princess underwear?
I love her so much, but I am also mentally preparing for the exhaustion she brings. For example, I stocked the pantry with extra caffeinated beverages and went to bed at 8:30 last night.
We have fun plans (mostly designed to make her exhausted so she naps long and sleeps all night) like spending the morning at the pool so she can run in the spray and go down the octopus or crab-with-its-mouth-open slide 4850 times, dinner with friends, and a trip to the toy store (AKA Walmart) to celebrate being a big girl who uses the potty.
I also look forward to dragging Bill to Ben & Jerry’s for an ice cream treat after dinner. I say that sarcastically because Bill loves ice cream and have I ever shown you a picture of his bedtime snack? Feast your eyes on his nightly bowl of diabetes at the end of this post.
I know Bill and I will both enjoy a break from DIY home projects this weekend because I’ve - I’ll admit – gone on a warpath lately about getting sh*t done around here.
I can't wait to build Leggo houses, play with dolls, and make stuffed animals talk and fall into bed exhausted but happy.
Hopefully, there will be no poopy swim diapers, BTW.
