Weekend Snapshots
I took a walk early Friday morning. The air was thick and soupy. It's a typical Florida summer, except that rain has been scarce, and water in the ponds is low. The grass, usually impossibly green, is turning crunchy and brown.
To help me stay more tuned in to here and now, I reduced the time I spent looking at my phone and randomly scrolling. I miss regular news updates and looking up miscellaneous trivia but I find it a less distracting, more peaceful way to live.
Bill and I played water volleyball with friends all afternoon, continuing our Fun Friday tradition. We came home exhausted but happy and made a simple dinner together - cajun cod sandwiches, corn on the cob, and frozen French fries.
I started watching Sex and City and am enjoying it even though I kind of know what’s going to happen. (See "looking up miscellaneous trivia" above.)
Bill worked all day Saturday. Later we went to dinner with friends who are like family and ate too much Mexican food.
I gave away my sourdough starter because it was needy and I'm shedding the needy things in my life.
On Sunday Bill golfed and I went to see a band with girlfriends. Later, when we were both home, we ate Costco pizza, went for ice cream, parked on the couch, and laughed at an Adam Sandler movie until bedtime.
The weekend wasn't much of anything...but it was also everything. And those are the very best times of all.
